When most people hear "icon" they think of icons in the cultural world like pop stars, MVP sports players, or possibly political figures.
When the word "icon" is mentioned to me, I think of the religious icons. Images crafted in a state of spiritual inspiration to honor and worship. Being raised in the Roman Catholic faith I had the chance to see reproductions of many icons. I would much rather spend my energy focusing on a religious icon than some sort of celebrity. I got a reproduction of an icon as my parting gift when we moved away from the Catholic Chapel at Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii. Now it is hanging over my desk.
